Sabbatical

If you are looking for more career consistency than a locum doctor job but don’t want to settle down indefinitely, Your Doctors Jobs can provide a great Sabbatical role for you.

Why are Sabbatical positions so popular?

‘Too long for locum and too short to be permanent’ – there has always been a gap in the market for mid-term placements. These combine the job security of a stable placement with the freedom to engage in multiple career postings without any long-term commitment.

For many years, the recruitment sector has been trying to strike that balance of security and lifestyle – luckily, the Your Doctor Jobs team has years of industry experience, which has enabled us to deliver the perfect Sabbatical program.

They say life is a journey, not a destination – we say, why not multiple journeys? With a Sabbatical role, you decide on the length of each posting and we do the rest. You will be able to experience a lifetime’s worth of memories in just a few short years with Your Doctor Jobs!

International Medical Graduates need to commit to working in Canada for a minimum of 6 months, although there are some differences between provinces. There are various pathways to registration which may be relevant – this is best discussed on an individual basis. The Comparable Health or Competent Authority pathways are often used for GPs or Registrars, while the Sabbatical Tenens pathway allows a doctor with approved Specialist qualifications to work as a Sabbatical GP or Specialist in Canada. Sabbatical Tenens registration can take some time so applying early and allowing yourself 3 – 6 months for the licensing process will ensure you’re living and working in Canada sooner rather than later.

Every province has a slightly different assessment process in addition to the requirements from the CPSC.
