General Practice (also known as Family Medicine) is a high demand specialty in Australia, with a huge range of both permanent and locum job options available for doctors. General Practitioners provide a full range of primary care services to patients, and in most settings would usually see around 30-40 patients in a standard FTE working day.

There are a range of practice styles, including small private facilities, Super Clinics, larger corporate practice networks, and hospital settings. Some practices also provide procedural services such as obstetrics, minor surgery clinics, and anaesthetics. Procedural GP roles are very common in rural and regional areas, and can attract generous pay rates for both locum and permanent work.

In a FTE role, GPs in Australia generally earn their income through Medicare rebates and private out-of-pocket fees on a fee-for-service basis, though salaried roles are sometimes offered. Locum roles are usually offered at a fixed hourly rate and/or a percentage of billings.

With our small but extensive network of public and private practices across rural, regional and metro areas, you can access the widest range of General Practice permanent jobs and GP locum jobs.

If you’re looking for more flexibility, why not consider a GP locum job? With placements ranging from a week to six months, and accommodation, car and travel included, you could start your most rewarding journey yet and improve the health of rural and remote communities.

Whatever your aspirations, our GP recruitment consultants will get to know you personally, and go that extra mile to find you the General Practice jobs best suited to your career, lifestyle and interests - the perfect match.
