What salary can you expect working in Medicine?

  • Locum day rates for Consultant Physicians are typically $1,200 - $2,500, depending on hospital and role requirements.
  • Permanent Consultant Physicians can earn between $200,000 - $500,000+ per year, depending on experience, seniority and location.
  • Locum Medicine Residents can expect to earn between $85 to $145 per hour
  • Locum Medical Registrars can expect to earn between $130 to $280 per hour

What qualifications do you need to work in Australia?

To work in Australia, Physicians require an Australasian Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent, AHPRA registration and Australian working rights.
